Just in time to welcome the world for the 2010 Olympics, Tourism Surrey is opening a new Visitor Centre and head office located at 730 176 Street, situated between the Pacific Border Crossing and the Campbell River store.

This exciting new addition to Surrey’s hospitality industry was designed by Ankenman Associates Architects. The exposed cedar beams and generous use of glass walls make for a striking visual impact for visitors entering Canada via the Pacific Truck Border Crossing from the USA.

“The new Visitor Centre is designed to accommodate 1000’s of guests a year as well as becoming the headquarters for our Association”, stated Cathy James, Executive Director of Tourism Surrey. Tourism Surrey will now operate two Visitor Centres in the region including the BC Visitor Centre @ Peace Arch on behalf of Tourism BC. “This region has become a gateway to British Columbia for US visitors, and an increasingly important part of our tourism business,” James remarked.

The grand opening ceremony will take place at 5:00 pm on Wednesday January 27th at 5:00 pm. Participating in the event will be Surrey’s Mayor, Dianne Watts as well as the city’s council members and members of Tourism Surrey’s Board of Directors.
