Food Bank Day
December 12, 2008
As per the press release below, the Surrey Food Bank is seeking assistance from the business community to help those in need during the holiday season. Tourism Surrey would be happy to accept donations from our tourism partners to assist in this effort. Please call our office at 604-581-145 to arrange pick up of your donations.
Food Bank Day set for Wednesday December 17th
Due to recent break-ins at the Surrey Food Bank, the community is coming together in an extraordinary way to help at this critical time of the year. With help from the Surrey RCMP, Surrey Fire Services, the Surrey Board of Trade, Tourism Surrey, the City of Surrey, local media and public, the Surrey Food Bank will get the assistance it needs to continue to help those less fortunate during the Christmas season.
“Cash donations are desperately needed right now” states Marilyn Herrmann, the bank’s Executive Director. “We serve over 14,000 people a month here and this time of year is especially difficult for some of our clients. With cash donations, we are able to buy the food we need as well as replace what has been stolen”.
Cash and food donations can be dropped off at the Surrey Food Bank on Wednesday December 17th at 10732 – 135 St. from noon till 2:00 pm and cash donations can also be made on-line at www.surreyfoodbank.org.
Show Surrey how much you care. Please make your donation on Wednesday December 17th at the Food Bank or any Surrey Fire Station between now and Wednesday the 17th. You don’t have to break the bank to make a big difference.
For more information about Food Bank Day, please contact Marilyn Herrmann at 604-581-5443.
