Presented by the Surrey School District, this annual jazz festival takes place in February and celebrates musical excellence and showcases teamwork as well as individual achievement in jazz. Free daytime events are open to the public and feature secondary students from all over the Pacific Northwest in bands, combos and vocal jazz ensembles. Adjudicators provide students with an opportunity to grow and excel with annual awards and scholarships presented to recognize outstanding students and musical performances. Evening concerts see renowned professional jazz artists performing along with the outstanding student groups from the daytime. Bring the family and enjoy an entire day celebrating jazz music and student achievement.
Surrey Festival of Dance is one of the largest Dance Festivals in North America with 10,000+ participating. Our 2010 dates are March 26 - April 19, 2010. No Borders Group Dance Challenge and Honour Awards are being held on May 8, 2010. This annual event is held each year at the Surrey Arts Centre.
The annual Vaisakhi Parade takes place in April and is one of the largest events in Surrey and draws in 80,000 from all over the Lower Mainland. Vaisakhi is one of the most important festivals in the Sikh calendar and celebrates both the Sikh New Year festival and the anniversary of the founding of the Khalsa in 1699. The Vaisakhi Celebration is truly a community event and welcomes people of all backgrounds to participate. Locals can be seen giving away free food along the streets, sharing, helping each other, signing, walking in the parade, and truly embracing their culture. Orange, blue, and white are the colours people typically wear to the event and orange cloths are placed on the heads as a sign of respect. This exciting and fun-filled celebration in Surrey symbolizes multi-culturalism and ethnic diversity.
The Cloverdale Rodeo and Country Fair is an internationally renowned event that has been thrilling crowds for more than 100 years! Minutes from the Trans Canada Highway and centrally located in the Fraser Valley with space to accomodate 15 - 4,000 attendees makes the Cloverdale Fairgrounds a sought after venue for every type of event.

Taking place at the Surrey Arts Centre and Bear Creek Park in June, this year the festival offers artistic destinations for young world arts travellers. Featuring high calibre performances from across Canada: Baobab (puppetry/music/dance), People of the Plains (dance/music), Michel Lauziere (comedy/music), and Straight-up Taiko (music). While you're at the festival, we invite you to travel to the interactive arts tents and explore clay making, world dance, circus arts, face painting, imaginative play and much more!
Western Canada's largest July 1st Celebration!!! The party will include live entertainment, a firework spectacular, and kid zone. The concerts are free to the public, with gates opening at 11am and the fireworks show slated for 10pm. Special attractions include amusement rides, plys a full range of family-oriented talent for the younger crowd, and interactive games for the kids. "Surrey's Canada Day festivities continue to get bigger and better every year," said Mayor Dianne Watts.
Surrey Fusion Festival is Surrey's 2-day multicultural celebration with plenty of international pavilions celebrating music, food and culture. Numerous entertainment stages with headline performers on the World Music Stage and the Celebrations Dance Stage, all this in a brand new beautiful urban park. The Festival brings together many distinct cultural heritages represented by ethnic and community groups hosting pavilions to present the music, food, costume and dance of their country of origin.
This growing festival is a celebration honoring the blueberry which is Cloverdale/Surrey's primary fruit crop. The two day event takes place in August and includes a classic and vintage Vehicle Jamboree Show 'n' Shine for cars, trucks and motorcycles with retro music. There's blueberry pie eating contests, blueberry vendors, blueberry pancakes and blueberry pie vendors. All this plus a kid's zone with live entertainment, amusement rides, free trolley bus rides BMX stunt bike shows, an Arts Festival and a tour of the Honeybee Centre!
This annual conference takes place in October and features some of the brightest stars, both local and international, working in the publishing industry today. Learn how to write a book, get published and receive tips from the people who have made it in the often challenging literary world. Interested writers can either experience the full 3-day package or participate in 1-day or master class options. There will be workshops to choose from along with keynote speakers, writing contests and a chance to discuss your work with published authors, editors, and agents.
