Boating
Surrey is a haven for kayakers, canoeists, sailors and windsurfers! The following are just a few of the possibilities for boating adventures in Surrey.
Kayak the Nicomekl River
For a gentle ride towards Crescent Beach and back, try the always-placid Nicomekl River. Elgin Heritage Park has a drive-in boat launch, from which Crescent Beach is less than an hour`s paddle away. Also try paddling from Crescent Beach to White Rock or into the Semiahmoo Bay via Campbell River.
Sail Semiahmoo Bay
Sail the water of Semiahmoo Bay from the White Rock Pier.
Windsurf Crescent Beach
Windsurfers often launch from the north end of McBride Avenue, where there is a parking lot right next to the beach.
Canoe around Barnston Island & Surrey Bend Park
familiarize yourself with the weather conditions and currents before setting out on the Fraser River. There is a boat launch next to the Barnston Island ferry dock at the foot of 104 Avenue. From here you can explore Surrey`s largest park, Surrey Bend. This is the only park without a developed trail system making it the one inaccessible park to those traveling on foot. A short distance west of the ferry dock is Central Creek, which boaters can use as their highway into the park. Here you can sail up the meandering creek through luxurious and seemingly untouched forest where you are sure to feel you`ve gotten "away from it all."
